For Parents and Prospective Students

Admissions and Registration

Admission to Sekolah Menengah Sains Hulu Selangor is through the Ministry of Education's centralised application, not through the school. This page explains the actual process and where you need to go.

Who decides

Selection for fully residential schools is handled entirely by the Ministry of Education's BPSBPSK division. SEMASHUR does not select, rank, interview, or hold its own intake quota. Contacting the school cannot influence placement.

Step by step

  1. 1. Apply online through the KPM system

The application is made entirely online by a parent or guardian through the Sistem Permohonan Sekolah Khusus. Form 1 and Form 4 use separate portals.

    Form 1 portal — spskt1.moe.gov.my
  2. 2. The Form 4 portal

Form 3 students applying for Form 4 entry use a separate portal at spskt4.moe.gov.my.

    Form 4 portal — spskt4.moe.gov.my
  3. 3. Sit the PKSK assessment

The Pentaksiran Kemasukan Sekolah Khusus (PKSK) is compulsory. An application without sitting PKSK is not considered. PKSK is open to Year 6 pupils for Form 1 entry, and Form 3 students for Form 4 entry.

  4. 4. The offer, through e-Tawaran

Offers are issued by the ministry through the e-Tawaran system. An offer is final — there are no school or stream swaps, and any appeal goes to the ministry, not to the school.

  5. 5. Report to SEMASHUR

Once an offer is accepted, the school becomes involved. Registration and reporting happen on the date stated in the offer letter. Postponement requires the offering school's approval.
